Chapter 5: The Power of a Visionary – Part 1

Chapter 5: The Power of a Visionary – Part 1

Ephesians 1:18 (KJV): “The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what the hope of His calling is, and what the riches of the Glory of His inheritance in the saints.”

My first trip to the island in Asia back in November 2024 was incredibly special to me. I truly believe that when I said the Salvation Prayer in the Prophet’s church back in London in 2023, I was saved, but when I was baptised in his church in Asia during that first visit, my life shifted in the direction it was meant to go.

As I write this Chapter now, tomorrow will be my one-year anniversary of being baptised, and our God has brought me so far from where I was. I now know where I am going – isn’t that what we all want to know?

I’m not sure there are words to convey how this makes me feel, and I can only liken it to what Jesus gave us upon His death and resurrection by giving us the Holy Spirit, whom He also called the “Comforter”. Comfort relieves you of constraint and brings you peace.

In Setting the Scene Part 5, I told you how one day, in despair, I looked up to the heavens (to who or what was unknown back then) and cried out a question, to which I received an answer. An answer that was so incredibly random, yet so convincing, that even through the years of turmoil that followed, it remained in my gut and heart as being true and something that would manifest.

All will be revealed in good time but not understanding back then where that answer had come from, I was still in the new age thought process of manifesting your life through love and believing you had already received. Part of that process was creating a Vision Board with everything you wanted in life, and if you loved them enough or believed you already had them enough, they would come.

Over the years, pictures and locations of houses changed, as well as the cars, but apart from one small dream – to have a charitable foundation in my family name – everything I had put together and stuck on the Board had been about money. It had been all about the materialistic. I had been conditioned to love the money, love the houses, love the watches, but ultimately it had been about worshipping money – which the Bible calls Mammon.

Jesus taught the disciples and the masses on a mountain – No man can serve two masters… Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

This is so clear. One of the biggest danger areas for all of us is that, from an early age, our life becomes about chasing money, which unbeknown to us, actually becomes worship.

As I’ve been progressing in my walk with God since my baptism last year, I’ve stopped the prayer of constantly asking Him for things, and I liken it to the “thirst” changing to “hunger”. My thirst at the beginning was to be in the environment, praying constantly and asking and asking. However, as my faith in Him built, I knew that my prayers were answered, and I didn’t need to keep asking, as that was demonstrating the faith – and so my thirst was quenched.

Now, I am “hungry” and all I ask for now is wisdom and knowledge and to get to know Him better, because I know the answer to every question I could possibly have is in receiving that knowledge.

One of life’s biggest questions, and certainly one of mine after the decades of living with no direction, is “What is the meaning of my life?” or “What is my purpose?”

Meaning and purpose are wrapped up in the one answer we want – to understand what God’s calling is upon our lives – the answer to why we are here on this earth.

We all came into this life for a purpose, and finding that purpose might feel like you’re searching for the Holy Grail or playing a game of “snakes and ladders” – you think you’re close, and then a roll of the dice has you sliding back to the beginning.

Our God really didn’t make it that difficult to find out what our purpose or calling is, when you stop looking at the money side of it and concentrate on Him and only Him.

Please read and re-read the verse above from Ephesians 1:18 and sit and contemplate this verse in quiet time.  Try and look at it this way – our God wants your eyes (vision) to be enlighten so that you may know what his hope is for you and all the riches that will bring.

To know your calling in life, you have to become a visionary, and in the second part of this 2-part series on The Power of a Visionary, I will explain to you how I found mine, as my biggest wish for you, is for you to find yours.

Until then dear Readers……..All Glory Goes to God
